What is an MMR system
|
|
A Mobile Medical Record is a software system that has the most
important goal in substituting paper patient record with a digital
mobile device able to support clinicians wherever they are and
whenever they need. Goal of a MMR is allowing physicians and
nurses in carrying out their daily activities without any piece
of paper and without slowing downs or obstacles due to the technology.
The MMR, first step of the process of abandoning paper patient
record moving to digital devices, it represents for the clinicians,
the "electronic paper", must be very easy to use and
intuitive in order to be well accepted. The MMR system must
manage real time and patientcentric clinical information retrieval,
able to work everywhere in the Hospital but also outside the
Hospital (domiciliary assistance, family doctors, etc); that
means that health operators and clinicians don't need paper
patient record anymore because MMR systems are provided with
all typical ward activities management features actually covered
by paper writing such as:
- Pharmacological therapy process: prescription, preparation and administration of pharmacological products with patient and drug identification (barcode and/or RFID readers); that means a complete and controlled workflow in drug treatments
- Medical and nurse diary,
- physiological parameters data entry,
- anamnesis and medical exams,
- nurse reports,
- diets,
- physiotherapies,
- discharging document.
- others, specific for the current ward
The MMR is used at patient's bed by the main source of information: physician
or nurse whenever and wherever they need. It must work also
in "offline" mode when no WiFi connectivity is available.
That means that an MMR is the right system for supporting
DOMICILIARY ASSISTANCE and other healtcare sectors
where professionals, volounteers, clinicians should use a
patient record in mobility.
Once integrated with Hospital Information System, the MMR,
unique in whole Hospital but customizable for every ward,
becomes the right frontend application for any HIS system:
in particular for EMR systems that are filled automatically
(less time, less errors) but also ADT system, Pharmacy legacy
systems (optimization of drugs supplying), Exam riservations
and referrals system.
